safely delete unneeded child box

Post by RickBaum » 25 Jan 2023 21:38

Hi,

I accidentally inserted a child in the wrong place on the main "All Relatives" chart. So, I have an unneeded child box that is empty, currently appended as an extra child.

Could someone please help me out by posting step by step instructions on how to safely delete the extra unneeded box? By "safely" I mean without damaging or losing any of the rest of my chart.

Thanks in advance for your assistance!

If you still have FH open then use the Edit > Undo Create Son/Daughter command.
N.B. The Edit > Undo... command will usually reverse the last operation.

Otherwise, if you have closed FH then open FH and open the same Diagram again.
In the Diagram, select the empty Child box so it shows the 8 blue grab handles on its border.
Now click the magnifying glass Focus icon 'Display in Focus Window' in the main toolbar at the very top left.
That will display the Focus Window with the empty Child box selected under their parents.
Right-click that box and choose Delete Record and confirm the popup warning with Yes.
