Delete some gedcom files Listed in Gedcom File Tasks

Post by goodwin2 » 15 Jan 2023 04:09

There are several copies of my gedcom listed there with various numbers of individuals in the copies. Because of an error I found in one that had the most individuals, I have renamed the gedcom that has corrected that error so will only be opening that one. Want to get rid of the 5 others that are listed that I will not be using.

Also, I have a named list called "Famous". I corrected an error in my gedcom that had 6 individuals that I subsequently found were not really related to me. Two of them had been put in the "Famous" list and I wish to delete their names from that list. The individuals are still in my gedcom but the association has been corrected.

I'm still using FH 6.27 - tried 7 when it first came out and didn't find it worked well with my method of notes, sources, etc. so went back to 6.27. I "may" be brave at some time and try 7 again as I still have it available.

Thanks for any answers to these relatively minor issues but they are annoying to me as I haven't been able to find the answers in the help area.

You can’t do it selectively, but see this thread for a couple of options to clear it completely. It will repopulate with current files as you use them.

In answer to the question about removing individuals from a Named List, simply select them in the list and hit the delete button on the keyboard. You will be asked to confirm that you want to remove them from the list. (The records themselves will not be deleted!)

IMO the File > Gedcom File Tasks list should be ignored and only File > Projects used to manage GEDCOM.
