This issue has now been fixed by a slightly novel route - CP themselves have produced the Refresh Source Record Auto Titles plugin, which does exactly what it says on the can - if "Autogenerate Record Title" is set for the templated source, the title gets updated when the plugin is run.

All it does is run fhSrcEnableAutoTitle(pSrc, true) for all templated sources where the option is set. If the title is consistent with the template, nothing happens, but an inconsistent title is refreshed and the record timestamp updated. It's a neat technique that we all missed :).

As far as I am concerned, the pending Wish List item can be closed.
