wrong parents

Post by princecharlie123 » 06 Jan 2023 13:06

Hi there
I have mistakenly placed eight children "under" the wrong parents.
What is the simplest way of replacing them "under" the right parents?
Many thanks
Jerry

Hi

That Changing Relations page doesn't actually answer the question. I have always done this change by using the Edit menu option to Unlink From the current parents then adding an existing couple as the new parents. But is there an easier way?

Regards

Ian

The video on that Changing Relations page shows exactly how to do it. Funnily enough, it's the same way technique you're using, but from the focus window not the Edit menu.

If moving only one child I find it quickest to use the All tab of the child’s Property box. The Parents family field is shown there. Right-click on the names of the ‘wrong’ parents then choose Replace Link With… then either Link to New Family Record or Link to Existing Family Record, as required. However, when many children are involved the Focus window method is probably quicker as you can work down the list in the window.
