Tree tops query

Post by jelv » 30 Dec 2022 21:28

This post is in response to a question on Facebook with a query they can download. It lists all the "end-of-the-line" ancestors for a selected individual.

this is a plugin that does it. its overkill because it is cobbled together quickly from several parts of other plugins that do stuff like this on the way to getting something else done. But it works. If you want the file root to anchor the treetops then hit cancel on the first screen and ok on the second. otherwise you can choose any temporary root. (a treetop has to have a root, or it would be brush), since the oldest record without parents (a treetop) in your file could be in a different pool.

I've been trying to work out a way of sorting the rows in my query to a logical order as they would appear (top to bottom) in the ancestors tab of the focus window.

It's simple if all the tree tops are the same generation (just use AhnentafelNumber) but that doesn't work when they are not.

Has anyone any idea on how it might be achieved?

Investigate the =RelationCode(...) function and perhaps the Generation code that may sort the rows appropriately.
