book in register format

Post by CLRhodes » 21 Dec 2022 11:10

Hi,

I'm using family historian version 7, is there a way to make the book in "Register format", for example:
" 36. Minerva RHODES (John S. 4, William 3, John 2, John 1) was born circa 1817 in Champaign County, OH. "
Thank you!

Hi.

Do you really mean 'book' as in Publish > Books & Booklets... or just a descendants Report?

Publish > Outline Reports > Descendant Outline does have some options that may get close to what you want.
The Reports > Options > Main tab has several Numbering options to differentiate people by generation.
It also allows the selection of the facts (Events/Attributes) to be included in the report.

I've tried searching online for a definition of a genealogical "Register format" but could only find a numbering system.
The structure of the reports seemed to vary significantly and none looked like your example.
Can you provide a cross-reference to a report style definition for your "Register format"?

I assume the names in ( parentheses ) are the children numbered in order of birth.

It is theoretically possible for a specific Report format to be created by using a Report Plugin but it would be a challenge.

Hi tatewise,

Thank you for your input! It appears Family Historian doesn't produce the format that I would like for my book.
