Making Ancestral/Descendant Line Stand Out

I'm getting to grips with the video on the FH website "making branches stand out".

I'd like to be able to do something similar but by identifying a person and a direct ancestor and for just that ancestral line to be highlighted automatically.

If that's possible, would it be possible then to work with two related people and for their 'relationship line' to be highlighted on a diagram via their MRCA (most recent common ancestor) - eg 3rd cousin once removed.

If either or both are not possible, is it worth putting up the suggestion on the Wish List forum?

How close does the 'How Related' chart come to what you want?

What the video does not demonstrate is the simplest use of the Family Connection Mapper.
It allows the box lines and interconnecting lines to be coloured for the route between any two selected boxes.

So with the Family Connection Mapper open, click on the box to select the first person and then hold the Ctrl key down while clicking on the box of the direct ancestor.
Now click the Connect Two Boxes icon of two yellow boxes linked by a kinked line in the Family Connection Mapper.
That will automatically colour the route between the two selected boxes as you requested.

Now hold the Ctrl key down while you click to deselect the direct ancestor and click again to select any other box.
Click the Connect Two Boxes icon again and for 'Replace exiting route?' answer No.
That will add the same coloured route between the current two selected boxes.

That can be repeated for as many two-box routes as you desire.

Thanks Helen/Mike for the replies - much appreciated.

The 'How Related' option fits my needs exactly, particularly as the shortcut, Ctrl-R, opens up the dialogue box to enter the details of the two people I'd be interested in.

All I then had to do was tick the box to ensure that siblings and spouses wouldn't be displayed in the eventual diagram.

The outcome is a single ancestral line from person 1 up to the MRCA then a single descendant line to person 2.

Even a complex relationship of 5th cousin, three times removed has only 15 boxes down 2 columns in the diagram and that takes us from present day to mid 17th century :)
