Saving marker sets for maps

Post by evinther » 17 Nov 2022 09:04

Hello,

I can't work out how to save a marker set - is this possible?

I realize i can save the map including markes as a jpg, but i want to save the marker sets themselves to allow for later modification without having to start all over.

Regards
Erik

Erik,
I just had a play creating a new marker set, but as soon as I closed the map window, it disappeared. I was hoping that by creating a marker set, it would become available next time I opened a map, but sadly it is not the case.

So the quick answer to your question is No

Perhaps something for the wish list?

Maybe it's a bug, as you can 'Add' a marker set, and add individuals to that set, but as you say, despite it going to the pick list, it disappears after restarting.
It's worth opening a case with CP to see what they say?

I've added a request to the wish list.

To be honest, I think it's worth reporting as a bug to start with.

I have created a case with CP myself as I am just starting with mapping, so I will report what they say.

So I created a support ticket that went like this:
Neil:
I have the latest version of FH, v7.017.1 and just starting to explore mapping.
I tried creating a map set using Add Marker Set... from 'Set Tasks'
I gave it a name, and used a query to add a set of people.
The named set is in the toggle list

If I close and open FH, the Set is gone, making the 'Edit' and 'Delete' options redundant!
CP:
Sorry it's not currently possible to retain Marker sets when the Map window is closed.
So I pressed this further:
Neil:
So this renders the use of sets almost useless. If you save anything in FH, such as custom querys, diagrams etc. you expect to retrieve it. To have Edit/Delete for a map set is very short term.
Like all things, you might want to develop the set over time etc. so the lack of retention makes this void.

Is it a technical issue or is it planned for the future?
CP:
I will pass your feedback on to the developers for consideration.
