Loss of some data after Updates

I routinely update FH when available, I am presently on V.7.0.15.
I use the Internet Data Matches system and it is remarkably useful.
However, I find that each time I apply a required update I seem to lose the fmp associated records in my Project and have to laboriously check and accept/decline all over again. This is frustrating to say the least!
Am I doing something wrong? I regularly Save the data and Project.
Any help or advice gratefully received.
Many thanks
Chris P

I might be misunderstanding what you have said, but - the Internet Data Matches process merely provides hints. There is no import / update to FH if you select "Accept" - you have to manually create a fact and copy / paste the FMP info.

Brent, any FMP records that have been Accepted/Rejected following 'hints' should remain in that state.
Chris has not said anything about using import/update or copy/paste to create facts.

Chris, you are correct that the Accepted/Rejected 'hints' should retain their status during an FH installation upgrade.
Exactly how do you perform an FH upgrade?
Exactly what do you do to "Save the data and Project"?

To retain Accepted/Rejected status, certain data that FH uses must be preserved and the most important is User Credentials.

BTW: Do you run FH on just one PC?

Thank you Brent and Mike,
In reply:
I run FH on a single PC.
When FH indicates to me that an update is available, I implement it at once, after backing up the whole project.
(I usually save the Data when closing the program and back up the whole Project routinely once a month as well.)
When Internet Data Matches show a match, I check it and. if it is correct, I ‘accept’ it and mark it as ‘accepted’ (or as 'rejected' as appropriate). I then add the information to my FH
As you confirm, Mike, I had expected FH to keep these matches recorded even after an update.
However after an update, I notice that the same suggested matches appear again with the little green numbers in a circle.

Do I need to do anything, Mike, about User Credentials, as I only use the one PC, albeit backed up to Dropbox?
I hope this makes sense ,
Thanks again for all you help,
Cheers
Chris
(PS I feel that it would be useful if FH had a setting for 'Possible' as well as Accept or Reject an Internet Data Match, to avoid duplicating effort!)

I suspect the options available are constrained by what FindMyPast and MyHeritage support, and they only support Accept or Reject.

Chris, since you only use one PC the User Credentials should stay the same through all FH updates.
The backup to Dropbox should have no effect.

I presume you simply install the FH new Upgrade over the existing installation and don't uninstall the old FH.

I believe the state of the 'hints' is something to do with the Project ...fh_data\Cache\ files.
So after an FH Upgrade try restoring your Project Backup and see if its 'hints' are preserved.
That will create a new Project with the same name but with the suffix (2) so you can compare the 'hints' in the original Project and the restored Project.

You may need to report the problem to CP to investigate if it cannot be resolved here.

Thanks Helen & Mike for the information.
Yes, Mike, I just let FH itself do the updating and don’t uninstall the ‘old’ version.
Thank you for your suggestion, I look forward to the next FH update so that I can follow it!
I’ll let you know the outcome and, if I still have the problem, I'll report to CP as you suggest.
Thank you again
Chris

Hello Mike,
FH's latest update (to 7.0.18) came over the weekend and I was extremely careful to ensure I had made a full Project backup before letting the update proceed as well as making a screen grab of at least one individual's record showing no 'hints' on my screen.
I am delighted to say that the backup went ok and the hints 'record' are preserved in the Project and from the backup, after the update.
Therefore I can only assume that I had not properly or deliberately backed up fully before previous updates. I shall be sure to do so in future.
Thank you again for the time and temper saving advice!
Happy New Year,
Chris :D

Chris, it is not entirely clear from your description whether the FH V7.0.18 update disrupted your 'hints' or not.
If the 'hints' were disrupted by the update then that must be reported to CP via http://www.calico-pie.com/osticket/open.php.
