Hi All,
I'm trying to find any occurrences of a specific fact - Divorce specifically at present, but any fact really. I can do a query, and that works, but I was thinking there must be a simpler way of finding a nominated fact. Something like the Records Window with a Fact tab and filter by Fact type. Is there anything like this?

* Search for a specific fact
Re: Search for a specific fact
You can configure the colums for the Individuals Records, to include any fact e.g. Divorce Date event.
This Presumes everyone with a Divorce Event will also have a Divorce Date.
You can then click on this column heading to sort them in ascending or descending order, to bring those individuals with a divorce event to the top.

Re: Search for a specific fact
Glenn, there is nothing like that available that could be easily configured.
Mike Loney has suggested adding custom Columns to the Records Window Individuals tab, but that has complications.
e.g.
If you want to find all Occupation facts then you must list every instance from INDI.OCCU[1] to INDI.OCCU[9] in nine separate columns, and the same goes for Census (CENS) and Residence (RESI) and any other fact entered more than once for any one Individual.
A similar problem affects Family facts such as Marriage and Divorce where multiple partnerships must be considered.
So the columns need to contain INDI.FAMS[1].MARR to say INDI.FAMS[5].MARR to cater for up to five family partnerships.
So the best solution is a Fact Query such as All Facts Filter by Label.

Re: Search for a specific fact
Well, colour me embarrassed! I didn't even think of looking for a downloadable query. The All Facts Filter By Label works just fine.
One thing I noticed was that many (all?) of the downloadable queries say suitable for V4, V5 and V6 but don't mention V7. Can I assume that a query that works for V6 will also work for V7, or is that a leap too far?

Re: Search for a specific fact
I'm glad that Query works for you.
If anything in the FHUG Knowledge Base (or in the CP Plugin Store) says it is for specific FH Versions then yes it is a "leap too far" to assume it works for other FH versions.
However, in many cases, things that work in FH V6 will work in FH V7 too.
The tiny handful of Knowledge Base editors (I am one) is gradually going through and updating every entry for FH V7.
However, with limited spare time, it is taking longer than expected.

Thanks Mike. Maybe you need to cut back on eating and sleeping and devote more time to the Knowledgebase.
Or maybe we can clone you?
