Old sketches - What fact

I've just got hold of a small number of sketches drawn between 1910-12. There is also a short poem. I feel they should be added to the appropriate person but not sure how.
Is a fact appropriate? I do have a "hobby" fact, but I'm not sure that is suitable. Any suggestions as to what others would do would be welcome.

If they were 'professionally' produced then maybe Occupation as artist and poet are appropriate.
Otherwise, Hobby is probably best. It is unlikely to be worth creating a new custom attribute fact.
However, you may need to adjust the Sentence box for this particular fact for Narrative Reports.
The images can be attached directly to whichever facts you choose to use.
IMO they are not candidates for Source Citation records.

Some people have a 'Life Story' fact or similar, where they write their own narrative about the individual. If this was the approach you took, you could link the sketches, etc to this fact.

But where do you attach the Media? To the Individual, to a Fact, to a Source?

We do know that one of them (my grandfather) when he was much older painted and sold a lot of pictures, but it was never a full-time occupation. Another cousin was a full-time artist so art was obviously in the family. But to our knowledge, none of these ones were occupations.

Much appreciate that advice. I don't think I've ever attached an image to a fact before, so I would probably have created a new source.

An occupation does not have to be full-time to qualify for the Occupation fact.
GEDCOM says: "The kind of activity that an individual does for a job, profession, or principal activity." and "The type of work or profession of an individual."

I decided to create a new fact called "Interest" which I thought was a better fit than "Hobby", then I used the "Change any Fact" plugin to replace all my Hobbies - which I'd never been happy with.

I use the same basic approach as Mike Loney suggested, create an appropriate Fact for the Individual, scan the images and attach them as Source media for that Fact. I always include appropriate Text in the Fact Note box to fully describe/discuss the history of the attached media.

What you have described is not what Mike Loney suggested. When asked, he said he attaches the media directly to the individual. He didn't mention creating a fact at all. His method is a bit unconventional because most users would only attach photos of the individual directly to the Individual record.
You have said you create an appropriate fact (and the OP's question was about what would be an 'appropriate' fact) and attach the image as Source media, so it sounds as if you create a Source record as well, although you could attach the media directly to the fact.

Yes, I create a Source record for that "appropriate" Fact. I then attach the scanned image as a Media record to that Source record.

I haven’t yet attached pamily photo’s to anyone, but I do attach media ‘Symbols’ to indicate Brickwalls, DNA matches etc.
I do this as they clearly show on the home page, and it saves me having to look for them.
The ‘Brick Wall’ is particularly useful and is a constant reminder as to where my research focus should be.
