How to merge Fact Types

All,

After import from TMG, I discover some Facts that were evidently duplicated in TMG.

An example would be Militia Serv and Militia Service.

It seems these should be merged into one Fact.

How is that done?

You must use the Change Any Fact Type plugin from the FH Plugin Store.
With that you can convert every Militia Serv fact to a Militia Service fact.

The only snag might be if the first is an Attribute with values and the other is an Event that does not allow values.

Once they are all converted you can use Tools > Fact Types... to Delete the redundant fact definition.

Is that enough information or do you need more detailed advice about using plugins?
See FHUG Knowledge Base Family Historian Plugins.

Mike,

Thanks.

I thought I had used the Merge/Compare Records for this last week. Evidently, I had not.

I am familiar with Plug-ins, and have downloaded a few, and have had a couple work nicely.

Let me give it a try and see how I do.

Appreciate the guidance.

Jeff

Mike,

Downloaded your plugin.

Reviewed the Examples.

Selected the Militia Serv as the Source Tag Name and Militia Service as the Target Tag Name.

The 'Change 'Source Tag Name' into 'Target Tag Name' ' box is greyed out. I am not sure how to proceed....?

Sorry Jeff, that is a known bug in the Plugin.
Select a different Source/Target Tag Set and then reselect the TMG Tag Set.
That should workaround the problem.

( Note to self ~ really must publish a fix to that bug! )

That worked, thanks for the workaround.
