* Amending Gedmatch Query (from Jane)
Amending Gedmatch Query (from Jane)
I am trying to tweek Jane's Gedmatch query, to amend the text shown for the Shared Couple.
The Shared Couple column uses the expression
=Record(TextToNumber(GetLabelledText(%INDI.EVEN-GEDMATCH.NOTE2%,"Shared Couple:")),"F"),
and the resulting display is ...of Fred Bloggs and Jean Smith
I'd like to remove the leading ... of , so it simply reads Fred Bloggs and Jean Smith
Is this possible?

If the result is a string and the initial characters are always "... of", you could try using a text function to remove it:
=MidText(Record(TextToNumber(GetLabelledText(%INDI.EVEN-GEDMATCH.NOTE2%,"Shared Couple:")),"F"),7,0)
=MidText(Record(TextToNumber(GetLabelledText(%INDI.EVEN-GEDMATCH.NOTE2%,"Shared Couple:")),"F"),7,0)

Thanks Adrian, that works, albeit the text is now Feint!! (but usable)
Still leaves me the question of how it got there in first place

Re: Amending Gedmatch Query (from Jane)
It is now faint because it is just text and not a clickable record link as it was originally.
To remove the ... of and allow it to be bold and clickable this is what you do.
The first Column has the new MidText(...) function:
=MidText(Record(TextToNumber(GetLabelledText(%INDI.EVEN-GEDMATCH.NOTE2%,"Shared Couple:")),"F"),7,0)
The next Column has the original clickable link:
=Record(TextToNumber(GetLabelledText(%INDI.EVEN-GEDMATCH.NOTE2%,"Shared Couple:")),"F")
for this Column at the bottom set its Type: to Buddy to work with the first Column.
The FHUG KB An Overview of Queries has a section Sorting a Fact Query on Owner Surname that mentions the advanced Buddy feature.

Obviously Jane meant it to be clickable, so I’ll revert to original expression and live with ittatewise wrote: ↑15 Sep 2022 13:58It is now faint because it is just text and not a clickable record link as it was originally.

The ...of is part of the standard text FH returns for a Family.

Why not have your cake and eat it? You can omit the ... of and have it clickable. It is not difficult.
I don't really know why CP chose to add the prefix ... of to family couples but that is what is shown on the Families tab of the Records Window and in the Caption at the top of the Family record Property Box, etc...

Re: Amending Gedmatch Query (from Jane)
Something buggy seems to be going on with FH! I modified this query as Miketate suggested (Thanks Mike), to include the ‘buddy’ status, then ‘updated’ the query, which worked well for the remainder of yesterday’s session.
When I opened FH this morning, the query had reverted to a non-buddy status, and I was back to plain text
Am I right in thinking that when one ‘updates’ a query, any changes made to the query are saved? If I’m correct, I may need to keep a close eye on this ‘buddy’ setting, to make sure it is retained between sessions!

Re: Amending Gedmatch Query (from Jane)
Yes, updates to custom Queries are usually automatically saved immediately to the FH ProgramData folder:
C:\ProgramData\Calico Pie\Family Historian\Queries\Custom\
My custom Queries have Buddy columns and are all OK.
What exactly are the Columns tab expressions now?
Do you have both Columns :
=MidText(Record(TextToNumber(GetLabelledText(%INDI.EVEN-GEDMATCH.NOTE2%,"Shared Couple:")),"F"),7,0)
=Record(TextToNumber(GetLabelledText(%INDI.EVEN-GEDMATCH.NOTE2%,"Shared Couple:")),"F")
and the second one is Type: Normal instead of Buddy or is the second Column expression missing completely?

Re: Amending Gedmatch Query (from Jane)
I had both those expressions in that order, with 2nd one set to buddy. Expession stayed the same, but It reverted to normal overnight

Re: Amending Gedmatch Query (from Jane)
So the Result Set had two columns: one faint plain text without ... of and one bold link with the ... of prefix.
That is very strange, so as you say, keep an eye on it

No! The first (Text) column is now normal (i.e not feint) but without the ...of, but the second (buddy) column does not appear, so one assumes 'Buddy' actually hides it as well - Result

Re: Amending Gedmatch Query (from Jane)
Strictly speaking, the Buddy column is merged with the preceding Normal column.
The text displayed is governed by the Normal column and the link is provided by the Buddy column.
I was referring to the initial state first thing this morning that you described as:
"When I opened FH this morning, the query had reverted to a non-buddy status, and I was back to plain text."
Did that have a Result Set with the two columns I described?

Yes.
Went back to 1 column once I set the buddy on 2nd column
