NLS Historical Maps for GB (20s to 40s)

Hi folks,
might be late to this party or may have done something wrong but is anyone else having problems using the NLS GB 20s-40s map option in FH and in Map Life?
I see on the NLS website: "From March 2022, these layers have all moved to the MapTiler Cloud API. There is no longer a fixed annual subscription fee, but different plans for different types of usage and quantity. There is a new 'free' tier for all non-commercial subscribers using 100,000 tile requests per month or less."
Am I conflating inappropriately or am I not understanding FH/Map life plugin when trying to use NLS. Or has there been a change that has meant this feature has stopped working?
As always, many thanks for any help.

It's worth reporting this to Calico Pie
here. It looks as if the NLS licence change has broken it.

Hi Helen,
just checking it wasn't only me first. Being relatively new to FH I wanted to be sure.
Thanks

FYI: The same problem afflicts the Map Life Facts plugin and has only started recently.

Thanks both. Reported to Calico Pie. (But understand Map Life is your Plugin Mike.)
Looking at the NLS webpage:
https://maps.nls.uk/projects/subscripti ... index.html, I'm wondering whether there's an opportunity to use the new Maptiler API to access the larger set of available map types rather than just the GB 20s to 40s.

Mike,
while you're here. Does the Map Life plugin store the Lat/Long co-ordinates in the FH database in Place>Map>Latitude and Place>Map>Longitude or does it keep the data only in its bespoke file. I'm using your plugin (very, very useful btw) for addresses (I've used Place and Address as per the original intention of GEDCOM) so just wanted to make sure that the Map Life geocoding doesn't result in address co-ordinates overwriting Place co-ordinates.
Many thanks
Glenn

The plugin
Help & Advice page
Map Life Facts Set Preference Options Tab explains all the options.
If you are plotting
Place Fields only then it is possible to sync with Project
Place Records co-ordinates.
Otherwise, the plots can be held in the
Plugin Data Folder or in Project
Source &/or Repository Records.
So if you are plotting
Address fields in any way the Project
Place Records is not an option. Your co-ordinates are safe.
Even if you use Project
Place Records, the plugin identifies established co-ordinates and lets you avoid adjusting them.
Have you seen the FHUG Knowledge Base advice
Working with Places and Addresses?
You are using the
Distinct Places and Addresses approach but if keen on plotting
Addresses maybe one of the other approaches is more appropriate.
There is the
Rearrange Address and Place Parts plugin if you wish to change your approach.

Thanks Mike,
Figured you had it covered but just wanted belt and braces
Yes, I’ve read the Working with Places and Addresses piece, and the distinct separation approach works well with my approach and mindset I guess. I use Places and Addresses in different ways for different analysis. And I must admit I used your rearrange plugin to help me tidy that up and make it consistent.
Thanks for your help as ever.
(Now for a play with MapTiler and Leaflet/MapLibre

)
