I'm looking at moving from RM7 to Family Historian and I've a few queries regarding the places list. Am I correct in thinking that this includes places from sources as well as places from facts? Also in RM7 you could edit or merge places but I can't find a similar feature in FH7, is this correct?

Welcome to FHUG. You will be in good company, as it is attracting a lot of migrants from RM7/8.
One right, one wrong

.
If a source template has a field defined as a place, then those places are included in the place list, along with event places.
Tools > Work with Data > Places from the main FH menu includes an option to merge multiple places together. To edit an individual place, use the Places tab of the Records Window. Find the place you want to edit, and double-click to open it in the Property Box, or right click to add an individual element to a place (note, media, lat/long, etc).

Just to add to Mark's reply, you can also use in Tools > Work with Data > Places to edit an individual place. It doesn't have to be done in the Records window.

To add to Lorna's and Mark's replies, Places can also be merged on the Places tab of the records window. Select the two places in the list and then use Edit > Merge/Compare Records....

To add to ... (!)
You can also access the dialogue referred to by Lorna from the property box, by clicking on the expand icon (the three dots) on the right of any place field. This opens the "Place List" selection dialogue, and clicking on the "More" button then "converts" it into the "Place List" management dialogue with the Edit, Merge and Where Used buttons.

Thanks for this everyone. I'm sure I'll have some more queries while I try out FH7, but so far it seems robust (which RM8 certainly is not), with some good features. I like that they let you try out the product before buying.
