Surname Cloud

Post by MarionWoolgar »

I would like to create a Surname Cloud from data in a Project within Family Historian 6, because I think it would be a most useful graphic to place on my web site. Does anyone know how to create it, please? I assume what I need to do is to create is a list of the surnames within a particular project and the frequency in which they occur. That could then be fed into another program to create the Surname Cloud. But I don't know how to do it! Any suggestions, please?

Marion, I've moved this to the FH General Usage Forum because it is not a Research topic.

There are two plugins in the Plugin Store that gives counts of Surnames:
Surname Summary Report
Top 20 Surnames in Bar Chart Format

I'm not sure about the next step of forming a webpage surname cloud.

Lots of Word Cloud generators on the web

I picked one, copied the first name column from a query and pasted it in!

@Jane had a little plugin that did this some time ago that was only published here in the forum. A forum search should turn it up.

That old plugin is in the Word Cloud Experiments (11002) posting but it does not run without some minor edits.
However, it relies on http://www.wordle.net/compose which no longer seems to exist.
