* Is it possible to customize the Fact Tab layout area?

I have chosen to not use the Address field, and have disabled it in all of my fact definitions. The result is an empty wasted space between the Place field and the Note field.

I would like to get rid of that empty space and be able to maximize the vertical space available. I've looked at all of the standard customization options and haven't found anything that would seem to do the trick.

Is there a file I can edit to make this change, with the understanding that the mod would be overwritten in any subsequent update? Is this something that should be put on the wish list?

No, that space cannot be closed up. Disabling such as field simply hides the box but does not reclaim any space.

There is nothing I am aware of that you can use as a workaround.

Anyone can post a Wish List Request and if considered worthwhile it will get added to the Wish List.

@lesliep I for one would support your wish as I have often wished I could enlarge the sentence preview box on that screen.

I've reviewed the Wish List and there are already two entries for the concepts discussed here:

Ref 557 Customise the Facts tab data entry
That would not only allow the space for unwanted boxes to be removed, but also resize the remaining boxes, and add extra boxes for fields that are currently missing such as TYPE Definition, CAUS Cause, AGNC Responsible Agency, etc.

Ref 545 Edit window for short Text fields
That would offer a popup Edit Window similar to long text fields like Address and Text from Source but would prevent invalid characters such as newline and carriage return from being entered.

So you can both go and Vote for them and add any comments you like.

I had voted on item 557 more than a year ago, but went ahead and added a comment. What I'm talking about here would be a small subset of what is being requested in that wishlist item, but you're right, they are related.
