Mentioned in Despaches Citation
Hi everyone; I am new to Ancestral Sources and Family Historian, and was wondering if anyone has entered details for a relatives war service such as being mentioned in despatches.

Re: Mentioned in Despaches Citation
Welcome to the FHUG John.
I have moved your posting to the Family Historian (FH) General Usage forum as there are no data entry options in Ancestral Sources (AS) for military events.
There are various techniques adopted by users depending on their objectives.
Some have just a Military Service fact and describe all the key events from enlistment to discharge in the Notes.
Others have distinct facts for each and every Military event.
Which is best for you depends on such things as how you want that military information displayed in Diagrams and Reports.
So until you have a clear understanding of those features it is difficult to advise which is best.
The fact set Extended Set installed with FH has a Military ID and a Military Service fact predefined.
Use Tools > Fact Types..., tick Show Hidden, and select Fact Set: Extended Set at the top.
You need to select any fact you wish to use and click the Show button to enable it.
The FHUG Knowledge Base > Downloads has several custom Fact Sets including Military History that can be installed into FH and has a Military Despatches event.
If you are unfamiliar with the concept of Fact Sets then review the Help Work With Fact Sets.

Re: Mentioned in Despaches Citation
Thanks for the reply Mike, I will have a look at the fact sets. My information at this time is for the RAF WWII, rank, number, posting etc. Some documents like sign up paper, pictures and the actual mentioned in depatches certificate. I will be adding army records to for other family members for WW1 & WWII.
