Sentence sex is switched and repeated.

I notice that the Sentence shown in the Facts tab looks as below.
{individual} was born {date} {place} son of <{%CUR_PRIN.~FATH>%}> <and> <{%CUR_PRIN.~MOTH>%}> $!& {individual} was born {date} {place} daughter of <{%CUR_PRIN.~FATH>%}> and <{%CUR_PRIN.~MOTH>%}>
When this is printed in a narrative report it reads:
James JEFFRYES, son of Thomas JEFFRYES (1780-1843) and Elizabeth HALE (1776-1835), was born on 26 November 1803 in Shoreditch son of Thomas JEFFRYES <and> Elizabeth HALE $!& James was born on 26 November 1803 in Shoreditch daughter of Thomas JEFFRYES and Elizabeth HALE
It duplicates the fact that he is the son of and then says he is a daughter.
How can I correct it?
It seems to be the same for every single person in the file (9000+ individuals)
Thanks
Derek

The code son of <{%CUR_PRIN.~FATH>%}> <and> <{%CUR_PRIN.~MOTH>%}> is superfluous because Narrative Reports automatically include that information and there is no option to change that.
Your template includes $!& {individual} was born {date} {place} daughter of <{%CUR_PRIN.~FATH>%}> and <{%CUR_PRIN.~MOTH>%}> which is faithfully included in the Narrative Report.
There is nothing to make that code conditional on gender.
However, it is also superfluous because FHJ automatically chooses son or daughter.
BTW: You have conditional < chevrons > in very unusual positions that are ineffective.
I suggest you revert to the default Sentence Template of {individual} was born {date} {place} and all will be OK.

Thanks Mike.
This is my first attempt at using narrative reports.
The sentence template in the facts tab is as it was when I installed the software, I have not touched it.
Is there a way to remove all instances of the sentance text in the facts tab, as if narraitve reports generate their own i clearly have no need for the text in the facts tab.
Thanks
Derek

That sentence template is definitely not the one which would have been installed with the software. Perhaps you tried modifying it a few years ago and have forgotten. However it is easy to revert to the default template. Use Tools > Fact types then select Birth from the list and click Edit on the right. Now click Restore Defaults at the bottom of the Fact Definition window and then click OK.

I notice from your earlier postings that you have imported from TMG and that may be the cause of the unusual template.
In Tools > Fact Types... does the Birth Event belong to the Standard Fact Set or a TMG Import Fact Set?
If the latter then that is the source of the unusual template and it is probably easier to simply Delete that Birth Event entry to revert to the installed default Standard Birth Event.
If you click the Show Hidden option, and drag the window so it is wider, then it will reveal if there are multiple definitions for the same fact, some enabled with a tick and others <eclipsed> and <disable>.
Tell us if that is the case and a more detailed analysis of the multiple definitions may be needed.

Looking at Tools > Fact Types there are loads of them that are labeled TMG project.
It seems to have imported lots of TMG templates and made a poor job of generating valid FH templates out of them.
I assume that if I delete all of them I will get proper FH 7 code in their Place.
Yes there are multiple versions hidden eclipsed and disabled.
Even some from something called Extended Set which did not come from TMG.
I would be happy to have just the FH 7 standard sentences.

Since you imported from TMG last year there have been some improvements to importing Sentence Templates, probably to fix the mistakes you are seeing.
However, it is very easy to remove all the TMG Import fact definitions at a stroke.
It may be wise to save a backup copy, so use File > Import/Export > Export > Fact Set > Custom Fact Set... > TMG Import
To delete all its definitions use Tools > Fact Types..., click Fact Sets... button, select TMG Import and click Delete button.
The two FH installed default Fact Sets are Standard and Extended Set, so don't touch those for now.
Do you have any others?

Thanks Mike,
I think I am getting there.
All the facts with nonsensical sentences were duplicated with one TMG version and the FH 7 Standard one
Deleting the TMG version makes the FH7 version active. Sentence then makes sense.
I have some Fact Type that have no Fact Set. <none> it won't let me delete these. (I don't think I use them).
I have deleted all of the Fact Types originating from TMG that are duplicated with a FH7 type.
I have a few left over TMG Tag Types that seem unique.
Such as Lost Cousins - a tag type set up in TMG to record individuals that I had posted on the Lost Cousins web site.
Milit - begin a TMG tag type that recorded military service
Emigration - date and place a person emigrated to.
Passenger List - ship name and sailing date and destination of a person who was aboard.
I don't want to delete these in case I lose the data.
Tags like Birth, Baptisn, Death, Burial in TMG the Note field was used to record data. FH 7 sentence for these does not include the note field so I am going to have to modify the FH7 sentence. or do a lot of editing.
Is there any way I can get a list or persons whose record contains a specific Fact Type?
Would greatly speed up the editing if I could.
Thanks

Derek

Ok, you have raised a number of issues that I'll deal with one by one.
Any Fact Type with Fact Set <none> indicates a Fact that is used in your Project but has no Tools > Fact Types definition.
As there is no definition there is nothing to delete. Click
Edit... to create a definition for each such Fact.
If you
Delete a Fact Type definition, that has no effect on your Project data Facts.
Those definitions become undefined Fact Set <none> entries as above.
Lost Cousins is a popular Fact Type and should be retained.
Milit might benefit from conversion to the
Military Service definition in the
Extended Set.
Emigration should be deleted/converted to use the
Emigration definition in the
Standard fact set.
Passenger List is not so much a
Fact as a
Source that can be cited for Emigration/Immigration or other travel facts.
Regarding facts with a Note field, the Report Options allow them to be automatically included in Reports with the facts and depending on how the Notes are worded may be satisfactory without any changes needed.
The standard
Query > Facts and Events > All Facts lists every fact against every person.
In the Result Set, click on the
Fact Type column heading to sort alphabetically so it is easy to find any fact.
Alternatively, the FHUG Knowledge Base >
Downloads > Fact Queries >
All Facts Filter by Label offers a filtered list.
