Labeled Notes: where is my error in hidden note?

Post by settingup » 18 Feb 2022 02:18

When entering military wartime service in an attribute type fact I was trying to use labeled notes to enter additional information. It was my understanding that I could put the labeled note in double brackets so that the labeled note didn't show up twice (once as the main part of the sentence and then again in the other descriptive sentences in note. It worked. :D
I moved on, except now I'm trying to use the fact for someone else and it is no longer working. If I leave off the double brackets then the labeled text does pick up, twice, but with the bracket it does not show at all. Why is this not working? What can I do?

The Sentence Template reads
<in the {address}> {individual} experienced {label} <when {%FACT.AGE%} old> during "{value}" <as a {=GetLabelledText(%FACT.NOTE2%,"Rank: ")}> {place} {date} {note}

Note:
[[Rank: Captain]]

Thanks

I don't remember where I saw this and I can't find it now, but try putting the [[ and ]] on separate lines.

[[
Rank: Captain
]]

This may not work, but it is worth a try.

Bill is correct.
That feature is described in FHUG Knowledge Base Narrative Report Fact Sentence Templates under Custom Fact Fields.
The FH Help page for the function GetLabelledText in its Description: says "The function will search for a paragraph that begins with the specified label."
i.e. The label must start the paragraph, so cannot be prefixed with square brackets [[
That requirement is new in FH V7, whereas in FH V6 the label could be anywhere in the paragraph.
Arguably the [[ should be disregarded and the following label deemed to begin the paragraph.
You could suggest that enhancement to CP via http://www.calico-pie.com/osticket/open.php.
