Missing Flags

Post by arishmell » 25 Jan 2022 07:07

Long ago I customised my Property Box with a tab called Flags. As I work almost exclusively from diagrams, icons indicating various bits of information are very important. Most of the icons are controlled by Expressions, but some are controlled by Flags. When I need one, I go to the Flag Tab, tick the box and it appears on the diagram. All these flags are present and working in my main project.

I have recently started a new project to explore a possible DNA connection. To my surprise, some of the the 'tick boxes' are missing (see screenshot). All the flags are present in the Diagram Options/Boxes tab What is going on?

I wonder if some of your flags have their status set to 'always show in list' and others have not. I think those which don't have that status won't show up if nobody in the current project already has the flag set. In your main project, try using Tools > Named Lists and Record Flags, select a flag which doesn't show up in the new project and click Flag Status. select 'Always included this record flag in list', if it's not already ticked. Then OK. Does that make any difference?

Otherwise, try creating the flag again (with exactly the same name as the original) in the new project. Right click on an individual's name, choose 'Set Flag', then <new flag>.

Lorna is absolutely correct.
In the old Project you must use Tools > Named Lists and Record Flags... and review the Record Flag: Flag Status... to ensure 'Always include this record flag in flag lists' is ticked.
Such Record Flags are saved in the FH ProgramData settings and made available to all Projects.

Wonderful, all working again! Thank you so much, Lorna and Mike. I learn something new about FH every day, and I've only been using it for 17 years!
