Overall order of events in narrative reports

There doesn't seem to be a a way to specify the overall order of events in a narrative report - do I have that right?
I can see how I can add and remove whichever individual events/attritibutes I wish and amend their order relative to one another, and likewise for the family events/attribues. However, the individual and family event lists are separate from one another in the report options and the overall order - i.e. where the family events will appear among the individual events - loooks like it is baked into the report (?).
I don't think you can generate a custom report ab initio, you have to start from an existing report and customise it, so that scuppers any thoughts of a solution there. As another possible workaround, might it be feasible to perhaps modify the sentence templates for certain events using expressions? For example, modifiy the birth sentence to also include the death fact and then omit the actual death fact from the report, so that an individual's birth and death details would then appear before those of their marriage(s)?
