Copying tree diagram as PDF
I am trying to copy a portion of my tree to include in a book on microsoft word. If I save the portion of the tree as a pdf, the female members are in a grey box and there is a pinkish background. If I save the portion as a jpeg, I can get rid of the grey box and background (by deselecting "include background" and selecting "text and lines in black and white", however i find that the text is less clear. Is there a way to save as a pdf but not include the background and grey boxes?

Re: Copying tree diagram as PDF
Choose the same settings you chose to Save Diagram As > JPEG File before you use Save Diagram As > PDF File.
You are correct in noticing that text clarity is far better in PDF than in JPEG.
It is odd that only Female boxes are grey or perhaps you mean transparent. Do all Diagrams display that way?
Perhaps it is actually all Spouse boxes that are affected (who may be mostly Female), i.e. spouses of direct line relatives.
It would help us understand what you have tried if you can give more precise descriptions of the options you chose.
I think they were:
Diagram > Options > General tab, Background: One colour and the Options... let you choose the colour.
or perhaps
Diagram > Options > Print tab, unticked Print Background and ticked Print tree lines, boxes and text in black and white.
However, there are many options in the Diagram > Options > Boxes tab to control box colour, shape, etc.
They can govern Female box types and Spouse box types, etc. I wonder if they have got upset somehow.
Nevertheless, what is displayed on screen should be reproduced faithfully in either JPEG or PDF (except for text clarity) unless overridden by the Print tab settings. So get the screen display to your liking and the PDF should follow.
Exactly what box colours, shapes, shadow, text colour, etc, would you prefer?
They can differ depending on gender, or whether Ancestors or Descendants or Spouses, etc...

"Choose the same settings you chose to Save Diagram As > JPEG File before you use Save Diagram As > PDF File."
I don't see an option to choose the same settings as JPEG
All females, spouses and single, are grey. All males are transparent.
I used this:
Diagram > Options > Print tab, unticked Print Background and ticked Print tree lines, boxes and text in black and white.
"Exactly what box colours, shapes, shadow, text colour, etc, would you prefer?
They can differ depending on gender, or whether Ancestors or Descendants or Spouses, etc..."
I would like all the boxes to be the same colour, ie white, and also the text to be black on all.
"However, there are many options in the Diagram > Options > Boxes tab to control box colour, shape, etc.

Under Box type, I have text colour set to black. Box fill set to no fill
Under Sex, I have the same.

Re: Copying tree diagram as PDF
This is no option to choose the same settings as JPEG.
If for example, you set Print tab settings unticked Print Background and ticked Print tree lines, boxes and text in black and white, then they will apply to every Diagram Save As file type including PDF as well as JPEG, PNG, etc.
In Diagram > Options > Boxes tab...
Box Type has six tabs from Root to Proxy, so you need to review the Box Features for each tab.
Sex has three tabs, so you need to review the Box Features for each tab.
I suggest you do NOT set the same Box Feature for Box Type and for Sex.
i.e. If you set Box Fill for Box Type tabs do NOT set Box Fill for Sex tabs.
If you set Box Fill to No Fill that means transparent so the Background colour will show through.
When you unticked Print Background then the Background colour is white.
Diagram > Options > General tab, Background: One colour and Options... colour White will do the same.
If only Female boxes are transparent and show grey or white Background then the Boxes tab settings are not the same for all types/sex of box.
So for Box Type set each tab to Box Fill with White colour
and for Sex set each tab to Text Colour as Black.
Clear all the other Box Features.

I'll check this out tomorrow, thanks.
Re: Copying tree diagram as PDF
Actually, I just had chance to adjust the settings. I guess I just didn't look at all the options! Thanks so much.
