Hi
I have a couple of questions relating to the Individual records list display options.
I am trying to arrange the columns into a configuration that I personally find the most useful to locate individuals. An ideal layout would be something like Name/id/birth year/place /death year/ place/marriage year/ spouse name/ pool.
I have managed something along these lines using the (Lists/configure record window columns) options) but is there a way to limit the birth and death dates to just the year?
Also, can a spouse name be added, not just the date of marriage? This would be very usful.
And the inclusion of father and mother would be a great help, but this may be asking too much!
Thak you for any help

Re: Individual records list display
Yes, to all that with some caveats.
I suspect you have added the standard Birth Date column Expression: INDI.BIRT.DATE:ABBREV2
Select the Birth Date entry and click the Edit... button so you can edit the Expression.
If you check the << Insert Data Ref... options and drill down through Events + Birth + Date you will see that as well as the ABBREV2 qualifier there is also the YEAR qualifier, so choose that.
Similarly, the Death Date and Marriage Date can just show the YEAR.
To add Spouse, Father & Mother add <Other...> and enter the Heading and then the Expression as below.
Again use the << Insert Data Ref... options and choose Spouse, Father, Mother as required.
Remember that for marriages/partnerships those Expressions refer to just the 1st of possibly multiple Marriage Dates and Spouses. So you may need further columns for %INDI.FAMS[2]>MARR[1].DATE:YEAR% and %INDI.~SPOU[2]> for the 2nd partnership, and so on for 3rd, and 4th instances, etc.
The same is potentially true for Father and Mother where there are both birth parents and foster/adoptive parents.

The LifeDate() function in a single column will give YearBorn-YearDied - which may suit?
This function returns the life dates for a given individual. If birth and/or death dates are not available, the function will give the baptism, christening and/or burial dates instead, if these are known.

David, the LifeDate() column is already in the Records window by default.

Re: Individual records list display
Thank you for replies to my questions.
The step by step info from 'tatewise' worked brilliantly
Changing to the year qualifier for marriage was a slightly different file path to that of birth and death, but all worked fine.
I now have a screen looking much as I had in mind.
Many thanks

Yes, for Family facts such as Marriage & Divorce the Data Reference must use the FAMS Family as Spouse link to reach the Family record that is shared with the spouse and holds the Family facts. Remember there will be multiple FAMS links if there are multiple spouses.
