Good morning all, after a summer break I'm back to my winter hobby and picking up the threads from where I left off last year. Generally I'm quite pleased with the notes, citations etc that I made last year and I can see where I need to continue the research. But...

I wanted to make a new note template that I could attach to an individual to show me where I have already searched and where to look next eg FreeBMD, FMP, GRO indexes etc. I wanted to create this as a template then attach it to an individual that I am working on to then edit.

So I been following the help pages and have create my list and I think I need to save it as autotext somehow but I am stuck at this bit...
The Manage Autotext Dialog can be accessed by clicking Manage Autotext on the Tools menu. You can also access it from the Note Window. To do that, click Manage Autotext on the dropdown menu that appears when you click on the menu button onthe Note Window toolbar.

When I click on the cog in the notes window I don't see anything that says Manage Autotext



Am I in the wrong place?

That is not what they mean by the Note Window.
What you are showing in your screenshot is the Research Note Property Box Main tab.
To open the Note Window click the [...] button on the right of the Note Text to get the rich text word-processor Note Window.
