Alphabetical?
I have a list of surnames in alphabetical order apart from one! Groves comes between Komene and Kacsics-how is this possible and how to resolve?

Re: Alphabetical?
John, we'll need a little more information on how you're producing this list.

Re: Alphabetical?
I don't actually produce the list as it is part of FH7. When I open FH7 there is a document icon (Individual Records-Records Window) on the left of the screen and the list starts with surnames beginning with A descending to Z which is fine but when I pressed K it gave me what I showed. Now it seems to have resolved itself and Groves is where it should be!

Re: Alphabetical?
Strangely when I looked at Georgianna Groves in the list when I press the + sign it shows her name first then underneath her husband's name and surname, so there are 2 lines within the list for her name?

Re: Alphabetical?
Was your Groves married to somebody whose surname began with K, by any chance? There's an option for that filter (under the Options... button) to include Husbands surnames in the filter... And if you had the record list sorted by something other than name, the results wouldn't be in alphabetical order.
Edited: I see you've spotted the Husband's name possibility.

I didn't ask for that option, I've always used the 'vanilla' version?

By default, I believe that option is on.

Use the Options button to the right of the filter at the top of the records list.

Re: Alphabetical?
Looked at those options but the husband's names box wasn't checked, it defaulted as blank so is weird that it showed Georgianna's husband in the list?

Re: Alphabetical?
Is her husband's name prefixed with Spouse family? If so, that's expected behaviour -- clicking on the + shows you all the information about her and the families she is part of.Strangely when I looked at Georgianna Groves in the list when I press the + sign it shows her name first then underneath her husband's name and surname, so there are 2 lines within the list for her name?

Re: Alphabetical?
John, it sounds like she may have both a Primary Name and an Alternate Name, so both are checked and included where they match the filter as shown below. In the screenshot with the Filter = A, Susan Isabel DOWLING is included because her Spouse family husband is Nigel Anderson, and Ian Stephen MUNRO is included because he has an Alternate Name of Steve Adopted.
So check the Property Box for Georgianna Groves, and click the more (+)... link next to her Name to see if she has an Alternate Name with her husband's surname. If so, then that explains why she is in the list.

Re: Alphabetical?
Thank you Mike, she does show her own maiden name as Name and on the 2nd line Name her husband's surname. How do I get rid of the 2nd line?

Re: Alphabetical?
To delete her 2nd Alternate Name there are at least two methods.
(1)
In the Records Window, select 2nd word Name, and press Delete on your keyboard or use the Edit > Delete command.
FH will say "The selected field will be deleted." and you can click OK.
Check the results and if NOT satisfied then use the Edit > Undo Delete command.
(2)
In the Property Box, click the more (+)... link next to her Name to open the Names & Titles dialogue.
Select her married Alternate Name in the lower pane and click the Delete button on the right.
FH will say "Delete selected Name/Title?" and you can click OK.
Check the results and if NOT satisfied then use the Edit > Undo Delete Alternate Name or Title command.
