Plug in for addresses

Post by Johnr65 » 29 Oct 2021 12:42

Is there or could there be a plugin or query to show all the addresses of the people in my tree at birth, baptism, marriage, death, censuses, residences, etc?
Due to an error on AS at some stage it shows the whole address including the town, country and country in the address line as well as the actual address! Currently, I have to go through all the people to delete these as they are superfluous. No mean task for 30K plus people!

Yes, try the FHUG Knowledge Base Download All Facts Filter by Label.

That allows you to select any one type of fact, e.g. Birth and lists all the relevant details including Address.

To list multiple types of fact, modify the Rows filter tab with such as:
Add if =FactLabel(%FACT%) matches Birth
Add if =FactLabel(%FACT%) matches Baptism
Add if =FactLabel(%FACT%) matches Marriage
Add if =FactLabel(%FACT%) matches Death
Add if =FactLabel(%FACT%) matches Burial
Add if =FactLabel(%FACT%) matches Census
Add if =FactLabel(%FACT%) matches Residence

To exclude those with no Address add:
Exclude if %FACT.ADDR% is null

It is possible that the Rearrange Address and Place Parts plugin will delete those trailing Address parts automatically.
It will work best if you have a fixed format for your Address fields where say the first 4 columns have a defined content.
Therefore, there will always be 4 column parts that you need to retain, and columns 5 and above can be deleted.

If you don't have a rigid Address column format then it gets more difficult.

Select the Rows tab.
At the bottom, it will say:
Condition: Add if
Expression: =FactLabel(%FACT%)
Operator: contains
Value: Birth

Change the Operator: contains to matches and click Update button bottom right.

Now change the Value: Birth to Baptism and click Add button bottom right.

Change the Value: Baptism to Marriage and click Add button bottom right.

Repeat that process for each fact label you want to include.

Finally, change the settings to:
Condition: Exclude if
Expression: %FACT.ADDR%
Operator: is null
and click the Add button bottom right.
