Wedding witnesses

Post by wigansaint » 27 Oct 2021 19:19

When I enter wedding details through Ancestral Sources, on the further info tab there is the option to choose "individual in file" or "just a name- not in file" which was the option I had been choosing.

Now I am entering census details I now find that in some instances the person I am entering was indeed a witness to a marriage I had previously entered. Is there a way to retrospectively link this individual to the original marriage entry?
I assume if the person is linked to the wedding it would be mentioned in any individual summary reports.

Yes, you need the find the Marriage Event and double-click it to see the Fact Witnesses.
You can then Delete the name only entry and Add an Individual with the same Role.

If the Fact Witness option is enabled then it will be mentioned in any appropriate Reports.
