Is there an easy way to split a part of my tree to send to a relative. I could do this with my old FTM very easily, but can't for the life of me find an easy way to do it with FH7. In FTM I would do an export, select (say) my father and then click descendants and FTM would then add my father and all of his descendants, dates etc. Can this be done as easily in FH7?

Yes, there are several ways to achieve that.

If your relative also uses FH then use the File > Import/Export > Export > GEDCOM File... command.
In the Select... dialogue you can select your father and Add using Query... where the Descendants standard Query will achieve your objective very similar to FTM. You then send the GEDCOM file and whatever Media files need to go with it.

It is also possible to create a Named List of people you want to regularly export and select that Named List via the same Select... dialogue.

Alternatively, use the File > Project Window > More Tasks > Copy Project command.
Then in that copy use the File > Split Tree Helper to delete what you don't want to export.
Remember to remove Media that are no longer linked to the Project.
Finally, use File > Backup/Restore > Full/Medium Backup to create a Zip file including the GEDCOM and Media to send to your relative who will use the File > Backup/Restore > Restore command.

If your relative is using some other product than FH then the Export Gedcom File plugin should be involved, either on the GEDCOM file exported above or the copied and split Project above.

A variant of this approach is to upload the GEDCOM to an online tree such as Ancestry, FindMyPast, or ZoomPast and grant your relative access to that tree.

Exporting GEDCOM is almost exactly what I want. Using my fathers as example I added query Descendants and then query Immeadiate Family that put everyone in except my daughters partner (Father of their children) and my dads step daughter, but it does add my brothers adopted son. What I really want is everyone who would show up in the Descendants tab in the Focus Window, granted my fathers step daughter doesn't show up in that. Another way to describe who I want would be if you took a tree for again my father and removed his ancestors and my mothers ancestors and his second wife's ancestors but left everyone below, so just like snipping a branch off a tree (keep everything on the branch and leave the tree).

Yes, that process is explained in Create an export GEDCOM based on a diagram and uses the Named List approach I mentioned yesterday.

Bear in mind that your relative must be using FH v7.0 for the Default exported GEDCOM to import satisfactorily.

There is a Destination option for 'Family Historian 6 or earlier', but I found it is not perfect for all data structures.
So you need to use the 'Export Gedcom File' plugin afterwards.
Also, don't overlook Media files.
