Why does FH not open on the person I have chosen as the root person?

I see from your profile that you are still using V6. If that is the case, I can't explain why FH is not opening on the root person. However if you have upgraded to V7 you may need to use Tool>Preferences>Startup and untick Display the Last-Used Focus Person in the Focus Window. (Also, if you are now using V7 it would be helpful if you would update your profile to show this.)

In FH v6 that is exactly what happens. FH v6 always opens with the File Root person in focus in the Focus Window.

Maybe you have upgraded to FH v7 but overlooked updating your FHUG Forum Profile that still says V6.
Click your username and navigate to Edit profile, change the Family Historian version, then scroll down to SUBMIT.

The feature to open the Focus Window with the same person in focus as when FH was closed is new in FH v7 in response to demand from many users.
You can quickly focus on the File Root person by clicking the Home house button in the toolbar.
Use Tools > Preferences > Startup and untick 'Display the Last-Used Focus Person in the Focus Window' to revert to the way FH v6 worked.

Not if you have clicked the option to "Display the Records Window, instead of the Focus Window, at Startup" (FH 6.2.7)? Has that option been accidentally selected?
