Linking text added to a diagram with an individual
Is it possible to link or connect a manually added text note on a diagram to one or more specific individuals on the same diagram? The Connect option doesn't seem to work, and I can't seem to anchor lines to nodes on the individual's box and the text box.

No, it is not possible.
You can Group together inserted boxes and lines to form one entity, but family trees (both the original tree and any inserted trees) cannot be grouped with anything.
So you cannot anchor inserted lines to tree boxes.
BTW: If by Connect option you are referring to the icon labelled Connect then that is the 'Family Connection Mapper' and has nothing to do with connecting lines and boxes.

Depends what you mean
If you have added a text box (Right Click in Diagram: Insert into Diagram, Text Box), you can visually connect the text box to individuals by inserting lines (Right Click in Diagram: Insert into Diagram, Line) and you have limited formatting options. BUT the line is not "connected" within FH, so if the diagram redraws "connections" are lost.
With a kludge (shock horror) you can connect text in a "text box" to a standard shared note and that shared note can then be shared with individuals in the usual way. The kludge goes like this.
What the implications are for other bits of FH functionality, I don't know; you always adopt kludges at your own risk!

- Insert an (unconnected) individual into a diagram - add no details other than a flag such as "Diagram Text Box".
- In your text scheme add a "Notes, Shared" line (%INDI.NOTE[1+]>%), set the flag condition to "[Diagram Text Box] must be set". Put the line at the end so that you can proceed it with any formatting that you desire.
- Create a shared note with the text that you want to appear in the "Text Box"
- Attach that note (or notes!) to the "individual" that you added in step 1 - and to any other "specific individuals on the same diagram"

Yes, I had sort of worked that outIf by Connect option you are referring to the icon labelled Connect then that is the 'Family Connection Mapper' and has nothing to do with connecting lines and boxes.
Not being able to anchor added text with one or more individuals on a diagram is something of a nuisance, especially when the diagram is constantly evolving, and parts of the tree are being moved around as reseach progresses. It's a saved tree as it's made up of a considerable number of various, as yet, unrelated elements of the family. In this case, the text denotes relationships that are currenty not confirmed, but are based on circumstantial evidence, and the evidence is displayed in the text box.

I understand your dilemma but perhaps there is another way to show that relationship information.
It involves putting the information in a record Flag, custom Fact, Custom ID, shared Note record, Named List, or such like.
Then display that information using the Text Scheme possibly in a distinctive colour.
You could also report your problem to CP via http://www.calico-pie.com/osticket/open.php.
