Relationship Pool

Post by mezentia » 17 Aug 2021 09:32

Simple question, is there any way of including the relationship pool number in boxes on a diagram?

I am working on a localised study where there are families that cannot be linked at the moment, so I have many different relationship pool numbers. I have these families displayed in a single diagram, one diagram per parish of the root person or persons: I'm going back to late 1500s and early1600s, so I have baptisms where fathers cannot easily be linked back to their possible common parents, or at all. It would be useful if the relationship pool could be displayed in individual's boxes. I am aware that I can do this manually by adding text to the diagram, but I have, currently, some 50 or so different pools and as I add parishes this will only increase, so it would be tedious to have to do it all manually.

Yes, use the =RelationPool(%INDI%) function in the Text Scheme to add the Pool number to every box.

If your Diagrams only display people from one Pool, then another option is a Text Box that automatically displays the correct Pool number once for the whole Diagram. The Pool number would be derived from the Diagram Root person.
Is that of interest?

Us the Diagram > Insert Into Diagram > Text Box option and draw a box in one corner.
Such boxes automatically default to referencing the Diagram Root person.
Right-click the box and choose Format...
In the Text tab enter Pool =RelationPool(%INDI%) and adhist its Font, Alignment, etc.
Use the Line and Fill and Shape tabs to adjust other characteristics.

Use Diagram > Save Diagram As > Custom Diagram Type so you can reuse that legend box in the future.

Thanks, Mike. My diagrams show all the families that I can identify as originating from a specific parish. Therefore I may have several families on a diagram where I cannot connect the root person of one family to the root person of another - at the moment.
