Hello! I am new to FH7. I am giving it a test run at the moment.
One question: is it possible to display individuals on an ad hoc basis to have their Family Name appear before their Given Name in reports, charts, etc.? I have several Chinese individuals, as well as a couple of Hungarians. In those languages (and others, such as Japanese and Korean), family names are given first, which is how I would like them to display. For example (though not in my file....): Mao Zedong vs. Zedong Mao [Mao is the family name]
Note I only want to do this for selected individuals, not the entire tree.
I suspect this is not possible, but I thought I would ask.
Thank you

Re: Family name first (Chinese, Hungarian, etc.)
Just to answer my own question in case anyone anyone else has a similar issue:
All I had to do was type the name in the order I want and then use // for the family name; it all sorts properly! So /Mao/ Zedong will sort under Mao. It even works with Chinese characters, e.g., /毛/ 泽东 (FH7 will insert a space, however, but I can live with that).

Re: Family name first (Chinese, Hungarian, etc.)
Welcome to the FHUG, and well done for answering your own question with the perfect answer.
The only wrinkle is that some Name Qualifiers will not extract what you might expect.
e.g.
NAME:FIRST will return nothing because the first name is assumed to come before the surname.
NAME:MIDDLE contrary to what you may think will return the name that comes after the surname.

Thank you!
On the plus side, at least I can now sort by family name, and (usually) display the full name as entered. This is already massive progress compared to other software.
