Applying a template AFTER a source is created?

I suspect this is a futile hope, but is there any way to apply a template AFTER a source has been created?
For a large group of sources, I just found the *right* template I should have been using all along.

I don't believe it -- there IS a way to change it! Sharing in case anyone else needs to know.
From Sources window, right-click on the source in question and select Properties. Go to the All tab, highlight the Template field, and press Delete. Confirm the deletion of the field, and close the source property.
Still in the Sources window, right-click on the source again, and select Add Template. Make your template choice.
Double-click on the source to open the contents of it, and your new template fields are there.

I'm not sure it would help you with moving from a generic source to a templated one, if if you want to change a template look at

Even changing from an existing Template to another Template will, I think, only be successful if the old Template metafields are a subset of the new Template metafields.
Yes, you can always change the associated Template, but some old metafields may become 'orphaned' by the new Template.

Joop's plugin allows you to specify the mapping of fields from old to new, so there needn't be any orphaned metafields.

Agreed, but I was talking about problems with KayCee's method in this thread.

Yes, there are some orphans, but they are easy enough to correct. It's a manual process, but putting the data in the fields of the new template, where they properly belong, has cleaned up my citations quite nicely.
