I have cloned a template for civil registration, in this case for a marriage license. Since it is a cloned template, I can edit it and add fields to the format for the footnote. After I add the fields, the entry for footnote format looks like this:
{Date}{Location}{Reference}{Collection}<{Type} certificate> <of {Principal} and {Principal_2}>, {Date}, {Repository}. Then I saved the changes.
The 4 fields that I added are before <{Type} However, the problem is, that they aren't added in practice, and when I look at the Definitions for the cloned template, (In View>Record lists >Source templates) they aren't there either. It looks like this:
<{Type} certificate> <of {Principal} and {Principal_2}>, {Date}, {Repository}.
which is same as before the editing to add fields.
do I have the syntax wrong? or something else? Why aren't the additional fields being used in the format?
Here is a source template definition that I also edited, which seems to work properly: {Collection}{URL}{Date}{Location}<{Type} certificate> <of {Principal} and {Principal_2}>, {Date}, {Repository}.
I'm darned if I can see any syntax difference between them, except that the Collection field is first.

Re: adding fields in cloned source template to footnote format
Have you synched the Source Template Definition and the Source Template Record? Go to Tools > Source Template Definitions and check for a green tick in the Used column. If the green tick isn't there, use the Compare/Synch with Source Template Record button.

Aha! It worked and another lesson learned.
Thanks once again.
