Duplicate Sources

Since updating to version 7 FH I have been taking advantage of the new templates in AS to update much information. However, I have noticed when when viewing sources that the old version is still showing making a duplicate. Before making an update I delete any media & all data relating to that update. Is there a method of dealing with this. I guess I can just delete the old version from the sources but it seems hopefully another option might be available. Maybe I'm not recording in the correct method. Any suggestions please?

Maybe the deletion of data before the update via AS is the cause of the problem.
Usually, AS will detect that a 'duplicate' Source Citation exists and provide options to keep or replace it.
But if you have deleted the data (Fact? & Citation?) then AS does not spot the 'duplicate'.
If you retain the Media, then AS has an option to use existing Media that avoids you having to import the image again.
To remove the superfluous 'duplicates' hold down the
Alt key and click the
Citations column heading to sort those with
0 Citations to the top. You can also check that they have
0 Pics etc. Then you can bulk delete them via a
Named List as explained in FHUG Knowledge Base
Delete One or Many Records.

AS won't delete sources. It will offer to replace the main fact (e.g. Census) but not other facts such as occupation (unless the place/address/date match exactly I think) and the existing source will remain. It would be risky for AS to offer to delete sources as even asking the question of the user could lead to the wrong choices being made - e.g. if a user was moving from 'method 2' to 'method 1' then could end up deleting a source linked to hundreds of facts.

OK, sorry, I could not remember for certain what the options were.
So Ken will have to delete the duplicate as I explained.
