I'm still wrapping my head around source & cit entering. Each time I give it a try, I believe I get it more correct than the last time.
This time I believe I may have got it 90% correct. So if you wouldn't mind checking the 2 images of a Baptism Source & Cit I entered & letting me know if I'm getting close.
However the 3rd image has made me question myself. The last source with a blue star, the title includes the person's name, I realise I can edit his name out. However when I tried using it as source for another baptism, obviously changing all the source information to the new person eg: William, all of Arthur's information in his profile was replaced with Williams.
I did read about cloning a source & using Automatic Source's.
I may not having been using the Automatic Source correctly - I clicked "Auto" and got the yellow bar, I clicked enabled, I clicked "select" & I picked a source, clicked primary, close.... nothing happened to the record that was open. I pondered a bit. I did try to read the help but honestly by that point my brain was turning to mush. I did try editing the citation from the 'Auto source' bar but still nothing happened.
The only way I was able to get the "Automatic Source" to attach to the profile was to open the "Source" window & add a citation (which gave me source records) & when that attached it wasn't the source that I picked from Auto Source.
So I'm guessing Automatic Sourcing isn't quite as automatic as I thought it was lol. And from what I've read on the forums it's mixed bag of those who do use it & don't. Honestly - I'd really rather not use Auto Source. It feels easier & quicker to use the Manual (?) Source method.
Getting back to the blue starred Source title. So I know I can edit the title to say simply "Parish Baptisms" or "Parish Baptisms of X Town" but if I clone that Source then use it for another profile & edit the cloned source I end up with 2 Source records called "Parish Records". Not being able to tell the difference between them & they'd be used only for that one or two profiles. So my thought was if I named it eg: Parish Baptisms of Essex, England but in the main source window I don't include Name, Date, Parish, etc but edit the citation only to include all that information. Instead of both the source window & citation (text from source?) having duplicate information. But doesn't that defeat the purpose of Sourcing correctly if I did that way?
I'd be very interested in seeing screen caps of how other's set out their sources & cits.
Thanks so very much, sorry if it sounds like I spoke in circles, it certainly felt like I was.

I had intentions of including 5 images, Census & Bapt (source & cit windows) & Source Records - but I was only able to attach 3
