Showing the marriage witnesses

Post by MortimerCat »

I have just upgraded to 7, so just trying out a few features.

On the Individual Summary reports, I would like to see the witnesses at the individuals wedding, but I have been unable to make them appear.

I have them configured as witnesses, and on the witnesses summary reports, it tells me they witnessed the marriage.

I have worked around it by creating my own "Marriage witness" attribute, but that seems like duplicating the work for something that should be possible anyway.

Witnesses are not well supported in FH reports. In the Individual Summary Report you will see that a person was e.g. godparent at a baptism in their section of the report, but not in the section of the report for the person who was baptised.

An Individual Narrative report shows the witness in both places. Standard Report Types shows where else this happens (very few places and all of them narrative reports).

I have added witnesses to weddings via Ancestral Sources
Of all the baptism records I have come across I have never seen a list of witnesses

Victor, Catholic baptism records often list the godparents.

Victor, some Baptism events could be affirmed by personal attendance or recollections where godparents were family friends or relations.

That would be for only recent baptisms but not from Parish records. I don't even know who attended mine but I have a certificate which listed my god parents. Parish records don't list these.

It doesn't matter where the information comes from, the problem as reported by the OP still exists, and applies to all types of Fact Witness Roles for all types of Facts.
