FH7 on main PC & subsidiary Laptop

I run FH7 on a Windows 10 PC, but want to use it on odd occasions on a Laptop in remote locations, eg graveyards, research venues and family meetings. This is allowed by the usage T&C's as I understand it. I can easily arrange for my main Project files to reside on the Cloud, or have a backup copy to load onto the Laptop.

My concern is the "internal" FH7 files, normally resident on the C: drive. Does anyone know if one can run with such a setup and actively update the FH7 files, both internal and project files, without screwing up the FH7 system? Ideally, I would like to be able to use the main PC again with the minimum of backup/restore being needed.

Clearly, at a pinch, I could use the Laptop in Enquiry only mode, and re-input changes on the main PC on return home. I am nervous about getting sync issues, especially on the internal C: drive files.

Suggestions/recommendations, please.

Bob

I (and many others) run with FH7 installed on a desktop and a laptop. See Synchronising Family Historian between 2 PCs for some advice on how best to do this.

Bottom line: as long as you never run it on both PCs at once (which is against the licence anyway), and follow the advice I've pointed to, you should be fine.

Many thanks, Helen. Sorry for not finding the article on Knowledge Base. I searched the Forum but not the KB.

I do apologise.
