Hadn't realised you were a Mac user. Or is Linux your OS of choice?

Joking aside, it's a very good editor. I used to use an (expensive) behemoth called UltraEdit, but VS Code knocks it into a cocked hat. (Not Visual Studio, which is a pig to use, in my opinion -- I avoid it unless I really have to do some maintenance on my few remaining pieces of C+ code).

There are pros and cons to this, the biggest con is that you have to recompile each time you make a change, by running the script "uncompiled" (usual way), it is much easier to test, edit, restart. As I understand it, the main advantage of compiling is for those who wish to share their often much more complicated scripts, to systems with no AHK installed. Not forgetting that each compiled script has a copy of the AHK exe, if AHK is updated, it should be recompiled.
