According to the FH help file
You can even move existing fact definitions to the new fact set from other fact sets, by changing their fact set name to be that of the new fact set. The only exception to this is that you cannot move fact definitions into, or out of, the standard fact set(called 'Standard').
But when I try to do so using Edit Fact Definition dialog, the Fact Set is Greyed out, and this is not a Standard Fact.
Am I (as usual) missing an obvious answer? I cannot see anything in the forum or the KB on this topic

Yes, that Help text is somewhat misleading. You cannot change the Fact Set name of a Fact definition in that way.
In the main Fact Types dialogue, you must Copy... the Fact definition to the new Fact Set and then Delete the original Fact definition from the old Fact Set.
In order to see both Fact definitions, Show Hidden must be ticked, otherwise one of them is <eclipsed>.

Unless I am confused about this, I believe you can change them in FH 6.2.7 the way Colin is describing. When I edit a fact type in 6.2.7 the Fact Set drop down is not grayed out and I can select a different fact set. The fact type is then in the new fact set as far as I can see. Did this change in FH 7?

Yes, you are absolutely correct Bill.
So either the Help in FH V7 has not been updated or a bug has crept into the Fact Definition dialogue.
Either way, it needs reporting g to CP via
http://www.calico-pie.com/osticket/open.php.
I'm getting increasingly concerned about the growing list of things that work in FH V6 but are broken in FH V7.
So I am postponing any work on my main Project until my confidence level is much higher.
Who knows what else will be discovered...

Thanks for both answers. Much appreciated.
I must admit that I thought I had changed fact sets in the past, in that way, but I really cannot remember and I don't have 6 installed to check.
It is a bit of a nuisance to do it by copying but as long as I remember, its not a major issue for the few times I do it.

Colin, are you going to report it to CP?

On a slightly different topic, if you edit a fact type, a lot of fields are greyed out, yet can still be edited.
In my topic on ordering of the Facts in the Quick List, I changed Normal Time of the DNA fact to Before Birth, despite this field being greyed out. CP seems to inconsistent in its use of greyed out fields!

I think its drop-lists have a lighter grey background than its inhibited fields that are a much darker grey.
But it is inconsistent, as some drop-lists have a white background.

Response from CP.
"Thank you for reporting that. We have logged it for the developers to investigate."
