Updating Books

I believe that a Book is a snapshot of the chosen data so what is the most effective way of updating its content ?
All I can think of doing is deleting a re-inserting the sections effected.
Also, is it possible to include in the book a Media Document that is linked to an individual in the Book? The one I want to include is a MS Word document which is both text and images.

What makes you think it is a snapshot?
What do you think the Refresh Book button does?
You can only include in Books media items that display internally in FH, so Word docs, PDF files, etc, are not supported.
You would have to extract the text and images from such documents and paste them into FH somewhere as Note text and Media images.

I thought the Refresh Book was for changes made in Edit Book, references, page numbers, Index etc.
So it will include descendants in the Descendants by Generation that have been added since the last time of opening?
OK, so I will have to deconstruct the Word document and try and rebuild it in Notes and Images.

Yes, it performs the same update to each book item as if they were separate Diagrams and Reports.
As long as the descendant generation limit has not been reached then new descendants, new facts, new notes, new media, etc, etc, will all get added to both Diagrams and Reports.
Tip: With the Book Window displaying the Book, press the F1 key to obtain the associated Help page.
That works for most FH windows that have no explicit Help button, and is a standard Windows feature overlooked by many.

Only those under 60 years of age who are too young to remember its introduction...
