Need lower case for labels and values in sentences

Post by Robert Jacobs » 13 Feb 2021 04:51

In a number of my sentences the entry for a value or label appears capitalized, thus:

"Jane Doe was Widowed on the death of . . . " That's from a role entry I've made for "widowed" in the death fact. It doesn't seem to matter whether I've made with role with a capital or lower-case W. Here's the template I'm using "{individual} was {role name} on the {abbr} of {principal} {date} {place}"

There are similar problems with a few other facts.

Is there a function or work-around of some kind that will avoid this problem?

Since that Template must be dedicated to the Widowed role on a Death fact why not use:
"{individual} was widowed on the death of {principal} {date} {place}"
That is the technique used in all the predefined templates provided by FH on for example the Marriage fact.

There is no need to use codes {role name} and {abbr} when you know what their value must be.

Furthermore, if you consistently use lowercase Role names in both the Tools > Fact Types definitions AND in the Fact Witness definitions, then {role name} will produce lowercase in the sentences, but existing entries must all be updated.

Thank you, Mike. That will work nicely.
