v 7.0.2 now out
I have just noticed that the next upgrade 7.0.2 is available and accessible from within FH7 in the usual way. Looking at the upgrade notes quite a few fixes, can't see anything about the saving as a pdf though. I will try that tomorrow when I have upgraded.

Sadly no change to exporting a report as a pdf.

Thank you for the heads up. Ran the update from within FH, no issues encountered

Re: v 7.0.2 now out
My impression from the list of fixes is that most of them seem to be addressing relatively "simple" issues - the odd errant line of code or property definition that inevitably isn't noticed until you get mass rollout. Unfortunately, the report/PDF issue feels much more fundamental. CP have been aware of it for a long time, so any easy fix would have been implemented by now. I'm still hopeful that it will be fixed, but it is probably something that needs a lot of work to make sure that there aren't unintended consequences elsewhere in the program.

Has Calico Pie actually indicated to anyone that this is a "bug" and something they plan on fixing? I was just wondering given that there may have been some underlying processing that made them switch to using images rather than text in the created PDFs.

Bill, AIUI, it's a bug, but not one with an easy fix.

Re: v 7.0.2 now out
Helen,
Just a clarification. Have CP indicated the scope of the fix? When they are able to come up with a fix will it be switching the PDFs back to using text instead of images or just be addressing the large file size of the PDF files.
Thanks,
Bill

Bill, I have no idea -- sorry. I can guess that they want to return to text PDFs (it's what we'd all like them to do) but I have no secret insight into what they're doing.

Hi,
I raised the V7 PDF printing problem in an earlier thread viewtopic.php?f=32&t=18533&p=106498#p106498
I asked Calico Pie last week what priority the problem had and if they could give an indication of where the resolution was in the 'development cycle' in order to try and guess when we might see a fix. This was the reply... "I'm afraid I don't [sic] the answer about PDFs. We are actively looking into it. I'm afraid that's all I can say. I'm sorry not to be more helpful." So we just have to wait, it seems like it will take a big effort to remedy it. In the meanwhile I've reverted to using V6. I'll check each month with CP to see how they are doing.
