I have several lists of individuals, each representing a branch of my family. I would like to produce a place report for each branch. In other words, the places in the report should be those that are associated - through one or more facts - with the specific individuals?
Is there a way, using queries, existing plug-ins, or some other feature of FH that I don't know about, to extract a list of places from the facts associated with a list of individuals?

Yes, use a Fact type Query that includes %FACT.PLAC% as a Column.

On the Rows tab filter test both Fact Owner 1 and Fact Owner 2 against a Named List of Individual records you are interested in using IsInList(...) function.

Unfortunately, that will list each Place multiple times if it is used by more than one Fact.
Export the Result Set in CSV format to a spreadsheet to eliminate the duplicates.

You might find this plug in helpful. Just select all the Individuals you want to get a list of all the places associated with facts for them. N.B Does not include Witnessed events. The result set can easily be saved as a Named List
