FH6 Plugins and Customizations in FH7?
1) What has been your experience with Family Historian version 6 (FH6) plugins functioning in version 7 (FH7)? Specifially, any issues with Backup and Restore Family Historian Settings plugin and Map Life Facts plugin?
2) Is the Export Gedcom File plugin still needed when "Version 7 now supports GEDCOM 5.5.1."?
3) Where would I find any updated plugins? Regarding plugins, Family HIstorian help page says "check the Plugin Store for an updated version that is version 7 compatible." I looked and found no plugins listed.
4) I've made several advanced customizations to my FH6. Any issues in transferring those to the FH7 upgrade?
I see that Ancestral Sources has a new 7.1 version that is compatible. I searched the Forum and found no posts about the topic of other companion software.

1. All standard plugins for V7 are listed on
https://pluginstore.family-historian.co ... rd-plugins
2. Yes, not all products support 5.5.1 the same.
3. See 1 above, I am not sure what page you looked at
4. See https://www.family-historian.co.uk/help ... users.html

Re: FH6 Plugins and Customizations in FH7?
You'll find updated plugins in the plugin store: https://pluginstore.family-historian.co.uk/, marked with the versions of FH they work with. When you check there, you'll see that both the Backup and Restore and Map Life Facts plugins have been updated work in V7.
Plugins that have not been updated to work in V7 will either not run, or produce unexpected result in V7, so it is strongly advised not to run them (any plugins you have installed when you update to V7 will be disabled because of the risks of running them).
The Export Gedcom File plugin is still needed to customise the output for particular destination file formats.
Your customisations in FH6 will largely convert to FH7 without a problem. Read https://www.family-historian.co.uk/help ... users.html to get the full detail.

Re: FH6 Plugins and Customizations in FH7?
Thanks. I went to the page shown in the attached screenshot to look for updated plugins---it is the Store link from the Family Historian homepage.
I did read https://www.family-historian.co.uk/help ... users.html before posting, but didn't understand that "property box" customizations would refer to all customizations I have made. Guess I forgot the correct terminology.
Thanks again for the speedy responses.

That is the store not the plugin store.
If you click on the plugin store option in FH6's plugin dialog it will take you to the plugin store home page.

The Plugin Store is on the Downloads dropdown Menu on the FH7 Home page.

Re: FH6 Plugins and Customizations in FH7?
Thanks for letting me where to look on the web. Perhaps Family Historian should call it the Plugin Downloads page for other neophytes to avoid having two stores (especially when the "Plugin Store" is free)?

The Downloads menu leads to all free downloads!

Right. So why is there a "store" listed in the free Downloads dropdown menu? It would be more logically be labeled simply, "Plugins." Just trying to suggested a user-friendly improvement to the website.

Re: FH6 Plugins and Customizations in FH7?
I think the usual way to get to the plugin store is from FH itself. As Jane said:
In FH just use Tools>Plugins>Plugin Store. If you click on the plugin store option in FH6's plugin dialog it will take you to the plugin store home page.

Re: FH6 Plugins and Customizations in FH7?
Thanks all. Just reporting that I successfully upgraded to FH7, and updated seven plugins to version 7. It was particularly helpful to have the list of plugins that were disabled compared to those installed and active. Onward!
