Please forgive me if I have missed something, but I would like to be able to autogenenerate the text in the Short Title field for a source from a Source Template.
The Short Title field does not appear in the Source Template Definitions window, or the Source Record window. Is there a reason for this, or is it an oversight please?
True, I can add the Short Title by expanding it in the Source Records window and add it and its contents manually, but this does seem out of step with the Source Template workflow.
Hoping someone can help.

Re: Source Templates and Short Title
Mike, can you please update your Profile on the right to show FH V7.
The short answer is that Source Templates do not populate any generic fields except the long Title.
They do not affect Short Title, Author, Publication Info, Custom ID, Type, Repository, et al.
They capture data in separate meta-fields that are used to produce the long Title, Footnote, Short Footnote & Bibliography.
I suspect it is possible to create a Data Entry Assistant (DEA) that populates any generic fields based on the meta-fields.
