Nick, this is now getting way over my head but I've just found mstfedit.dll and it looks as if I have the same as you:

RS3100: I didn't suggest that Word had anything to do with the issue. I believe that FH uses that DLL and therefore the functionality of the rich text control may differ depending on which dll is installed on the computer. Lorna's response suggests this particular issue is not related to that (it was just a possibility) but the fact remains that the version of the dll may effect how the rich text box works in FH.

Re: Question marks appearing in text
Thanks Lorna, it probably suggests this has been updated in a recent Windows 10 update then. But unlikely to be related to the issue you're seeing. Very strange.LornaCraig wrote: ↑22 Jan 2021 17:35Nick, this is now getting way over my head but I've just found mstfedit.dll and it looks as if I have the same as you:

Mine is dated 08/09/2019 Rich Text Edit Control v8.5 (v10.0.18362.329) so far from the latest, and I have no ? problem.

Nick, I was just suggesting that I think the build of FH7 may be involved.
FH7 v7.0.1.2 is now the version offered on the download link on the FH website. Obviously it is entirely up to Lorna whether she wishes to install it, but it might confirm whether it resolves what she is seeing one way or the other. As I say, I am now on 7.0.1.2 and can't reproduce it any more.

Re: Question marks appearing in text
You may be right! I have just upgraded from 7.0.1.1 to 7.0.1.2 and can no longer reproduce the problem. So it seems it may have been a bug which was introduced in 7.0.1.1 and swiftly removed.
I will continue to monitor this ....

Re: Question marks appearing in text
Ah that's good. I was vaguely aware that some people had been sent links to an update (7.0.1.1) but hadn't understood the point that RS3100 was making there was now an update of the update (7.0.1.2)! Yes it does sound like a 7.0.1.1 glitch - in that case I'm glad I'd not been offered it!
