V7 icon spacing in diagrams compared to V6

Hi,

I sent a similar message to the email list but was advised that it was better to post on this forum if I want to include attachments.

I use icons to show whether I have the B/M/D certificate for an individual and also whether I have found them in a census. After upgrading to Version 7, the icons appear more spaced out in my diagrams to how they used to be. Please see attached images. One is from Version 7 and one is from Version 5. Please note that I couldn't find an image from version 6 as I don't typically save these type of diagrams, plus I used slightly different icons back then for BMDs, but I am sure that V6 had similar closer spacing than I now get in V7.

Has anyone else noticed this? Is there a setting I can use to get the icons close together please? I have tried setting the gap between icons setting to 0 but it does not help.

I would like to add how amazed, grateful and delighted I am that so many people spend their time monitoring and answering questions both on this board and in the email list. It really is lovely to see. On and off I have been using FH since v3 and also used gedcom census prior to ancestral sources (and have donated several times). But I am still a novice user!

Many thanks, Paul

On the Email list it is reported that the FHUG Knowledge Base > Downloads for Diagram Icons now have a set of 2021 Converted Icons in EMF format preferred by FH V7.

Those and the built-in EMF icons are automatically a better size than the old BMP format icons.

The Diagram > Options > Dimensions tab More Dimensions... button Gap between icons... is not entirely satisfactory.
Unlike many Dimensions this one does not adjust to the Diagram Orientation of Top-down or Left-right, etc.
Horz. always applies horizontally and Vert. always applies vertically. I am not sure if that is intentional?

The Gap between icons... Horizontal spacing works OK, especially for EMF format.
For Top-down the gap between Icons can be 0 and for Left-right the gap between Icon columns can be 0.

The Gap between icons... Vertical spacing is not so good, especially for EMF format.
For Top-down the gap between Icon rows can never be 0 and for Left-right the gap between Icons cannot be 0.
It is as if the Top-down minimum gap between rows is also applied to the Left-right vertical spacing between icons so they cannot be close together.
That may be a side effect of the Dimensions not being rotated when the Orientation is rotated.

The Help for Gap between icons... says:
"This setting specifies the horizontal gap between icons, and the vertical gap between rows of icons."
BUT that is only meaningful for Top-down and Bottom-up mode.
How does it map onto Left-right and Right-left mode where Icons are in columns?

IMO there are faults with this Dimension and its Help that should be reported to Calico Pie.
