Research Notes
Further to my previous post of 27/12/2020 and others regarding The Research Notes facility I have managed to set up my notes how I wish to use them. In doing so I have set up a template within the AUTOTEXT facility which contains "Rows" for each of the individuals in my tree (only 552) so not very large.
My intention is to use the "template" as a TO FIND form then when when I have found the item I am looking for, say a Birth Certificate, I will delete the Row from that table. So eventually my aim is to have an empty "To Find" table and a fully completed "Found" table, I can always hope!!!!
Every time I try to delete a line from the To Find table (containing 552 rows) the FH Programme crashes and shuts down. Though with a Research Note containing fewer rows, say 20, I can quite easily delete a row.
Am I doing something wrong or is this an issue with FH7.

Re: Research Notes
Assuming it is repeatable, that is an issue with FH, so report it via http://www.calico-pie.com/osticket/open.php.
What is the smallest size table for which deleting rows does not work?
Then snag with unexpected program crashes is a potential loss of significant amounts of data even within AutoSave.

Re: Research Notes
It does sound like a bug.
However, I'll say that a table of 552 rows (which will grow as your tree grows) is far to large to be workable the way you describe -- I suggest you look at a note per individual with labelled text (Birth:, Death: etc.) and work with queries to list e.g. all the Births you still have to find.

Re: Research Notes
Thanks both. I’ll report it to Calico and rethink the way I work my research notes. Thought I’d found a way that suited me so will look at queries though I do struggle getting my head around them.
Re: Research Notes
Further to my previous reply I have had a "play" with what I think suits me best and feel that a combination of using the Research Tab for the Research I have done and the Research that I have identified that I need to do. Then also using "Named Lists" to track which certificates / information I have find and have found.
One issue I have is that in creating a table in Research Notes and trying to print it, the columns are wider than the print page, even in landscape mode. I have looked for an option to shrink the table width to fit the page but cant find it. Is there an option to automatically do this or do I need to adjust the table width in the actual Research Note before attempting to print the note.
I have added below an example of the columns I am trying to print.

Re: Research Notes
The problem of wide tables has been widely (sic) discussed in these Forums.
The only solution is to manually edit them to shrink their size, use smaller fonts, wrap text in cells, etc, etc.

Re: Research Notes
Mike, thanks for the quick reply. I’ll just have to manually manipulate the columns.
Re: Research Notes
As per the previous posts I have created a Research Note for each individual (where applicable). After creating the research note I have then gone on to create a link to that research note in the individuals property box. Is it best to use the "Shared Research Note" (3rd image) link so I can see the Research Note in the property box. Or create a link using the "Note about (a specific individual)" (1st and 2nd image) so all I can see is a link though it can be seen in both the Note Tab and in the Main Tab.

Re: Research Notes
It really depends on how you work -- there is no best way.

Re: Research Notes
It also depends on things like whether you want to export it to another product, including FH V6.
The link from the Individual Property Box Notes tab will convert to a standard shared Note link when exported using my Export Gedcom File plugin, but the Record links within the Research Note itself will just be Names and not active links.
So you will get maximum functionality if you use both so you have two-way linking.

Once again thanks for the advice.
